This Code of Rules shall constitute and be known
and cited as the "Code of Rules for the Plumbing Code of the City
of Kingston."
The purpose of this Code of Rules is to provide
basic and uniform plumbing rules and regulations in terms of performance
objectives implemented by specific requirements, establishing reasonable
safeguards for sanitation in and adjacent to buildings to protect
the public health against the hazards of inadequate or insanitary
plumbing installations.
This division applies to the administration
and enforcement of the plumbing standards of the New York State Uniform
Fire Prevention and Building Code.
This Code of Rules shall apply to plumbing systems
and to parts thereof which are hereafter installed in buildings of
the occupancy-and-use group classifications covered by the Uniform
Fire Prevention and Building Code.
All plumbing work in the city performed pursuant
to the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code shall come under
the provisions of this article.
The Kingston Examining Board of Plumbers in
conjunction with the Department of Health shall have the power to
suspend, modify or add to the provisions of this code in any particular
case when in its opinion the requirements of health demand it.
No officer, agent or employee of the city shall
render himself personally liable for any damage that may accrue to
persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in
the discharge of his duties under this article. Any suit brought against
any officer, agent or employee of the city as a result of any act
required or permitted in the discharge of his duties under this article
shall be defended by the Corporation Counsel of the city until the
final determination of the proceedings therein.
