[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Sea Bright 2-4-1992. Amendments noted where applicable.]
This chapter may be known as the "Returned Check Ordinance."
Whenever a check made payable to any account of the Borough of Sea Bright is returned for insufficient funds, a service charge of $20 per transaction shall be added to the account. The service charge shall be paid and credited before any other payment on the account is accepted and credited.
Unpaid service charges shall become delinquent and, when applicable, shall also become a lien against property, to be enforced in the same manner as other liens.
Any person whose returned checks become chronic, as determined by the Clerk of the Borough of Sea Bright, may thereafter be required to pay in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
[Added 12-15-1998 by Ord. No. 94-98]
