It shall be the duty of the Assistant Chief of the Fire Department to inspect any chimney, flue, pipe or smokehouse reported to him by any citizen of this Borough to be dangerous and liable to cause destruction by fire, and if found in such condition, to order the same to be cleaned, repaired, renovated or removed by the owner or tenant, and upon failure of such owner or tenant to attend to such cleaning, repairing or removal within 24 hours after service of such notice, complaint shall be made to the Municipal Court.
The Chief or Assistant Chief of the Fire Department may, at the scene of a fire, direct the removal or securing of all goods and preservation of all endangered property, and in case the possessor or possessors of the same neglect or refuse to comply with such written directions, the party or parties so refusing or neglecting shall, on due conviction thereof, before the Municipal Court, be subject to the penalties in § 108-4 below.
