PREAMBLE
Pursuant to the authority conferred by Michigan
Public Act 184 of 1943, as amended, drafted and adopted for the purpose
of meeting the needs of the state's citizens for food, fiber, energy
and other natural resources, places of residence, recreation, industry,
trade, service and other uses of land; ensuring that use of land shall
be situated in appropriate locations and relationships; limiting the
inappropriate overcrowding of land and congestion of population, transportation
systems, and other public facilities; facilitating adequate and efficient
provision for transportation systems, sewage disposal, water, energy,
education, recreation and other public service and facility requirements;
and promoting public health, safety and welfare, now therefore, the
Township Board of Grosse Ile, Wayne County, Michigan, hereby ordains:
ORDINANCE TITLE
An ordinance enacted under Michigan Public Act
184 of 1943, as amended, governing the unincorporated portions of
the Township of Grosse Ile, Wayne County, Michigan, to regulate and
restrict the location and use of buildings, structures and land for
trade, industry, residential use, and for public and semipublic or
other specified uses; to regulate and limit the height and bulk of
buildings and other structures; to regulate and to determine the size
of yards, courts, and open spaces; to regulate and limit the density
of population and, for said purposes, to divide the Township into
districts and establish the boundaries thereof; to provide for changes
in the regulations, restrictions, and boundaries of such districts;
to define certain terms used herein; to provide for enforcement; to
establish a Zoning Board of Appeals; and to impose penalties for violation
of this ordinance.
