The 1996 BOCA National Property Maintenance Code as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA) International, Inc., is hereby adopted as the Property Maintenance Code of the Township of Grosse Ile for the control of buildings and structures, and each and all of the regulations of the 1996 BOCA Property Maintenance Code are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part thereof as if fully set out further herein. Printed copies of the Property Maintenance Code are on file in the Township's Department of Community Development and are available for inspection and/or purchase by the public. Any violation of this code shall be considered a municipal civil infraction.

The CABO One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code, 1995 edition, as published by the Council of American Building Officials, is hereby adopted as the Township One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code for the Township of Grosse Ile to provide minimum standards for the protection of the owners and occupants of residential buildings, and each and all of the regulations of the One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code of the 1995 edition are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part thereof as if fully set out further herein. Printed copies of the One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code are on file in the Township's Department of Community Development and are available for inspection and/or purchase by the public. Any violation of this code shall be considered a municipal civil infraction.

Any reference contained in such codes to the name of a municipality shall mean or refer to the Township of Grosse Ile, County of Wayne, State of Michigan; any references therein to the word "state" shall mean the State of Michigan; any references therein to local ordinances shall mean or refer to the provisions of the Property Maintenance Code or One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code in each respective code of the Township of Grosse Ile and other ordinances of the Township.
This article is deemed necessary for the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the Township of Grosse Ile.

Penalties for violation of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, § 1-3. The provisions of Chapter 1, Article II, Municipal Civil Infractions, also apply to violations of this article.
