Pursuant to the provisions of the Michigan Building, Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, in accordance with Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, the Building Official of the Township of Grosse Ile is hereby designated as the enforcing agency to discharge the responsibilities of the Township of Grosse Ile under Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, State of Michigan. The Township of Grosse Ile assumes responsibilities for the administration and enforcement of said Act throughout its corporate limits.
Fees for permits to be obtained under the Township's Building, Mechanical and Plumbing Codes shall be as established by the Township Board and shall be posted or made available at the Township's Department of Community Development.
Any reference contained in such codes to the name of a municipality shall mean or refer to the Township of Grosse Ile, Wayne County, State of Michigan; any references therein to the word "state" shall mean the State of Michigan; any references therein to local ordinances shall mean or refer to the provisions of the Building, Mechanical and Plumbing Codes of the Township of Grosse Ile and other ordinances of the Township. Printed copies of the Building Code, Mechanical Code and Plumbing Code are on file in the Township's Department of Community Development and are available for inspection and/or purchase by the public.
This article is deemed necessary for the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the Township of Grosse Ile. Any violation of this code shall be considered a municipal civil infraction.

Penalties for violation of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, § 1-3. The provisions of Chapter 1, Article II, Municipal Civil Infractions, also apply to violations of this article.
