A petitioner, developer or property owner shall be required to post notices upon the land which is the subject matter of a required public hearing before the Planning Commission under Chapter
71, Condominium Projects, or Chapter
238, Subdivision Control, of the Township Code of Ordinances or Article
22, Special Land Use Review, or Article
23, Variances and Amendments, of Chapter
285, Zoning.
The petitioner, developer or property owner
shall obtain the required language to be placed upon the notice from
the Township Department of Community Development at least one week
prior to the date when the notices must be posted.
The posting of notices upon the property shall
comply with the following standards:
A. The notice shall be posted once every 400 feet of
road frontage along the perimeter of the property which is the subject
matter of the public hearing, with a minimum of one notice facing
each road along the property's perimeter.
B. The notice shall be made in black lettering on an
eighteen-inch-wide, twenty-four-inch-high yellow weatherproofed board
with a minimum of a one-quarter-inch plywood backing.
C. The notice shall be firmly attached or secured to
a two-inch-by-two-inch or a two-inch-by-four-inch stake or post at
locations that are easily observable by the public from abutting roads
or sidewalks, but shall not be placed in a location that would obstruct
the view of roadway traffic or which would interfere with the effectiveness
or obstruct the view of any traffic control device or signal.
D. The notice shall stand at least three feet off the
ground.
E. The person responsible for posting the notice shall
maintain the notice in compliance with all requirements of this chapter
until the day following the public hearing and the notice shall then
be removed by the person responsible for posting the notice.
F. The person responsible for posting the notice shall
file a signed form at least 10 days prior to the public hearing date
which establishes that the person has complied with the requirements
of this chapter.
G. The posted notice is exempt from the Grosse Ile sign
ordinance requirements.
Any person who fails to comply with the requirements
of this chapter may not proceed with the public hearing.

Penalties for violation of this chapter shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, §
1-3. The provisions of Chapter
1, Article
II, Municipal Civil Infractions, also apply to violations of this chapter.
