All such sums of money as may be received by
the Borough Treasurer in accordance with 53 P.S. § 895.701
et seq., its amendments and supplements, be and is hereby declared
to be received for the benefit of the Firefighters’ Relief Association
of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, which is hereby recognized as the relief
fund association of the Borough volunteer fire company, namely, the
Palmerton Fire Department.
The Borough Treasurer is hereby directed to
enter such sums, on receipt thereof, to a special account and to report
said amount at once to the Borough Secretary, who is hereby directed
forthwith to issue and, with the President of Council and the Borough
Treasurer, to sign a check in favor of the Treasurer of the Firefighters’
Relief Association of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, provided that the money
to be received under said Act of Assembly as aforesaid shall only
be paid over to said association while it is in existence for the
purpose as set out in its bylaws adopted May 17, 1920, and provided
further that the Borough of Palmerton shall in no way be liable for
the proper application of such money after the same shall have been
received by the Treasurer of said association or for the payment of
any sum or sums of money except as in this chapter specified.

The provisions of this chapter are severable, and the invalidity
of any section, subdivision, paragraph, or other part of this chapter
shall not affect the validity or effectiveness of the remainder of
the chapter.

All ordinances or parts of ordinances that are inconsistent
herewith are hereby repealed.

The provisions of this chapter shall become effective on this
16th day of January, 2014.
