There is hereby created an Open Space Committee of the Township of North Brunswick.

The Committee shall consist of 12 members appointed by the Council, one of whom shall also be a member of the Department of Community Development, and all of whom shall be residents of the Township of North Brunswick; the members shall serve without compensation except as hereinafter provided. The Committee shall designate one of its members to serve as Chairman and presiding officer of the Committee. The terms of the office of the Committee members shall be for one year, January 1 to December 31. A vacancy on the Committee occurring otherwise than expiration of a term shall he filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.
The duties of the Committee shall be to review and recommend open space acquisitions and projects to the Township Council to be implemented under the open space tax. The Open Space Committee may have an operating budget as provided in the annual budget of the Township Council.
The Open Space Committee shall report annually to the Mayor and Council as to its activities. The Committee shall also submit interim reports on specific projects when required. The Open Space Committee shall also furnish its opinion and advice on open space preservation and acquisition projects, including all green acre projects at the request of the Mayor and Council.
