Pursuant to an order by the Department of Public
Health of the State of Michigan, issued January 22, 1979, in accordance
with the provisions of Public Act 339 adequately controlling use of
water taken from the water system of the Township for lawn sprinkling
during peak water use periods within the Township, this Code article
is enacted in compliance with such requirement.
When used in this article of the Code, the following
terms shall have the following meanings unless a specific provision
of this article provides for a different meaning:
PERSON
Includes not only any natural person but also any partnership,
association, profit or nonprofit corporation, unincorporated or incorporated
club, any other group or combination of individuals acting jointly
or in concert, and any other legally recognized public or private
entity.
TO WATER
The act of obtaining and using water from the Grosse Ile
Township water system for the purposes of watering or sprinkling any
lawn within the Township.
It shall be unlawful for any person to water or cause to be watered any lawn within the Township of Grosse Ile during the months of May through September, inclusive, except as otherwise provided in §
268-4 of this article.
The prohibition contained within §
268-3 of this chapter shall not apply during those times and on those days as the Township Board may by formal motion except based upon and in consideration of peak water use periods within the Township.

Penalties for violation of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, §
1-3. The provisions of Chapter
1, Article
II, Municipal Civil Infractions, also apply to violations of this article.
