A.
No person shall operate a motor vehicle, motorcycle
or tractor upon any sidewalk in the Township, nor shall any person
operate a motor vehicle, tractor or motorcycle upon or across any
sidewalk, except in order to gain access to or egress from a driveway
or alley at such location where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed,
shall have been properly cut down for the said purpose.
B.
No person shall operate any motor-driven vehicle or
devices, including but not limited to all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles,
minibikes, scooters, skateboards, power-wheels, pedalcycles, or motorized
go-carts, upon any sidewalk located in the Township.
C.
No person shall operate a motor-driven vehicle or device, including
but not limited to all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, minibikes, scooters,
power wheels, pedalcycles or motorized go-carts, upon any street,
way, alley or highway located in the Township of Ridley or upon any
Township-owned or -leased property, including parks. This section
does not apply to any passenger motor vehicle, tractor or motorcycle
which is a properly registered motor vehicle, provided said vehicle
is operating by a properly licensed driver. While the vehicles listed
in the above sentence can operate on streets, ways, alleys or highways
in the Township, they cannot be operated in Township-owned or -leased
parks.

D.
Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation who shall
violate provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof,
be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and,
in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment
not to exceed 30 days.
E.
This section shall not apply to any person who is
physically handicapped, physically disabled, or is physically challenged
and is operating a motorized device as a result of said handicap,
disability or physical challenge, which device is recognized by the
Americans with Disabilities Act as a proper mode of conveyance.
F.
Impoundment.

When a law enforcement officer issues a citation for a violation
under this chapter, the officer may impound the ATV, dirt bike or
other motorized recreational vehicle, as defined by this chapter,
operated by a person who received the citation if, in the judgment
of the officer, the operator will continue to operate the vehicle
in violation of this chapter and such operation may be a hazard to
the safety of persons or property. That officer may impound an ATV,
dirt bike or other motorized recreational vehicle, as defined by this
chapter, for the purpose of establishing ownership, if such ownership
is not evident by any registration or other document on the person
or the operator.
(2)
The owner may reclaim his vehicle at any time subsequent to 24 hours
after the issuance of the citation upon proof of ownership and payment
of costs of impoundment to the towing agency impounding the vehicle.
The speed limit for both directions of traffic
along the highways or parts thereof described below is hereby established
at the rate of speed indicated.

A.
Purpose and intent. Valley Road is a winding Township
street that is situated in close proximity to I-476 and, as such,
is used as a shortcut to I-476. Because of this, and in order to promote
and protect the public health, safety and general welfare, it is necessary
to restriction bus traffic on Valley Road.
B.
Prohibition. It shall be unlawful for any bus to travel
on Valley Road in either direction from Bullens Lane to MacDade Boulevard
or from MacDade Boulevard to Bullens Lane.
D.
The Superintendent of Highways of the Township of
Ridley is hereby directed to erect official signs warning of the limitations
imposed under this section.
E.
This section shall be enforced by the police officers
of the Township of Ridley in accordance with the provisions of the
general Code of the Township and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

A.
Weight over 55,000 pounds prohibited on all Township
streets.

Purpose. Pursuant to the authority granted it in the
Motor Vehicle Code 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 4902, the Township has
determined, after review and inspection by its Engineer, that Township
streets, based upon their construction specifications, may be damaged
or destroyed unless the permissible weight of vehicles is reduced
to a maximum weight of 55,000 pounds.
(2)
Restriction. It should be unlawful for any person
to operate a motor vehicle with a gross weight in excess of 55,000
pounds on any Township street.
(3)
Posting. When conditions warrant it, in the judgment
of the Township Manager, restriction signs shall be erected and maintained
by the Superintendent of Highways at each end of a designated street.
(4)
Penalties. Any person operating a motor vehicle in violation of this Subsection A is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $75, except that any person convicted of operating a vehicle with a gross weight in excess of a posted weight shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight.
B.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any
commercial vehicle or other tractor, traffic or tractor-trailer combination,
having a gross weight in excess of that herein respectively prescribed,
upon any of the highways or portions thereof described below, except
for the purpose of making local deliveries on that highway:

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
any vehicle or tractor upon any highway in the Township that is under
construction, resurfacing or repair, in disregard of any official
sign, barricade or notice that the same is closed to vehicular traffic.
A.
The Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized to
designate as play highways, whenever it shall deem such action advisable,
and for whatever period of time directed by it, any portion of any
highway in the Township, whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted.
Such highway shall be set apart for the purpose under the direction
of the Chairman of the Recreation Commission.
B.
No person shall operate any motor vehicle or tractor
upon any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated,
except in case of emergency, with special permission of the Board
of Commissioners or of the police officer in charge, who shall first
clear such play highway of all persons using such highway for the
purpose for which it was set aside.

A.
It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle or tractor
on any roadway or driveway upon the grounds owned by any private person,
firm or corporation, for the purpose of through vehicular travel,
without the consent of the owner or other person in control or possession
of said property.
B.
It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle or tractor
on the driveways of the Municipal Building of the Township of Ridley
for the purpose of through vehicular travel.
C.
The Board of Township Commissioners, by resolution
duly adopted, shall designate such restricted private roadways or
driveways and shall erect, at the entrance of such roadways or driveways,
an official sign informing the public of said traffic regulation,
which sign shall read, "NO HIGHWAY - PARKING ENTRANCE ONLY." The cost
of such official signs and the cost of installing the same shall be
borne by said property owner.
The operator of any motor vehicle involved in
an accident in the Township and required by law to report such accident
to any department or agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or
any other person required to make such report, shall, at the time
of making such report to the commonwealth, make a written report to
the Captain of Police of the Township containing the same information.
