The duties and authority of the Board of Fire
Officers shall be as follows:
A. To adopt bylaws and rules and regulations for the
conduct of its meetings and for the administration of the Fire Department,
subject to the approval of the Mayor and Council.
B. To act as a board of inquiry for the purpose of hearing,
investigating, and determining complaints and charges preferred against
officers and members of a fire company and, immediately after conducting
a hearing, to notify the Mayor and Council as to its recommendations.
C. To report to the Mayor and Council, through the Fire
Commissioner, concerning the efficiency of the Fire Department at
fires and drills, and attendance of the members of the Department,
in order to form a basis for determination as to relief and participation
in departmental elections.
D. To devise a uniform method for use by companies as
to the keeping of records of alarms, fire losses, condition of apparatus
and equipment, attendance by members of the Department at fires and
drills, and such other information as may be determined necessary
by the Board.
E. To change the Borough fire districts and the rules
and regulations concerning the answering of alarms in the event of
emergencies created by conflagrations.
F. To perform such duties and exercise such powers as
may be conferred upon said Board by any other provisions of this chapter.
