[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Rouses Point 7-2-1979 by L.L. No. 4-1979. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby established in the Village of Rouses Point the office of Deputy Clerk. This office shall be in the exempt class regarding civil service classification. The term of office of the Deputy Clerk shall be for two official Village years and shall be concurrent with the terms of office of the Village Clerk.
The Deputy Clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor of the Village subject to approval of the Board of Trustees. The Deputy Clerk shall be required to take and file the official oath of office. Vacancy of this office shall be filled by appointment in accordance with the provisions of the Village Law, as amended.
A. 
The Deputy Clerk shall assist the Clerk of the Village and shall work under the supervision of the Mayor of the Village and Clerk of the Village.
B. 
The Deputy Clerk shall possess the powers and perform the duties of the Village Clerk during the absence or inability to act of the Village Clerk or during a vacancy in the office of the Village Clerk.
C. 
The Deputy Clerk shall assist the Village Clerk in all matters as required by the Clerk or as required by the Mayor and Board of Trustees, and the Deputy Clerk shall also perform such other duties pertaining to this office as prescribed by law or by resolution as determined by the Board of Trustees.
The annual salary for the Deputy Clerk shall be established by the Board of Trustees and shall hereafter be appropriated in its annual budget.
Nothing herein contained shall be deemed or construed as abolishing, transferring, impeding or curtailing any powers or duties of any elected official, or of the Board of Trustees, or of the Mayor, Treasurer or Attorney, as prescribed by the Village Law or other applicable laws of the state.
