[Adopted 9-23-1976 as Secs. 2-55.47 through 2-55.50 of the Charter and Revised Ordinances]
It is hereby enacted and ordained that the City of Derby join and be a member of the Lake Housatonic Authority.
There shall be a three-member delegation to said Authority from the City of Derby. The members of said Authority shall be appointed by the Mayor in the instance of the initial appointment, one for a term of three years, one for a term of two years and one for a term of one year. Thereafter all members will be appointed for terms of three years. Vacancies shall be filled by the appointment of the Mayor.
A. 
The Authority shall act as agent for the City of Derby in cooperating with the Department of Environmental Protection in the enforcement of the boating laws on bodies of water within the territorial limits of the City of Derby.
B. 
The Authority shall be granted the power within the bodies of water within the territorial limits of the City of Derby to:
(1) 
Control and abate algae and aquatic weeds in cooperation with the State Water Resource Commission in accordance with the General Statutes.
(2) 
Study water management, including but not limited to water depth and circulation and make recommendation for action to its member towns.
(3) 
Act as agent for the City of Derby with respect to filing applications for grants and reimbursements with the Department of Environmental Protection and other state agencies in connection with state and federal programs.
(4) 
Act as agent for the City of Derby with respect to receiving gifts for any of its purposes.
(5) 
Exercise such other powers as from time to time may be granted to said Authority by the legislative bodies of all member towns and the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut.
A. 
The method of municipal withdrawal from such Authority shall be governed by § 7-101a[1] of the Connecticut General Statutes, as the same may be amended from time to time.
