[Adopted 9-23-1976 as Secs. 19-5 through 19-8 of the Charter and Revised Ordinances]
The Mayor shall annually appoint a citizen of the City, preferably a veteran of the war with Spain or the World War, whose duty it shall be to see that the grave of any person who served in time of war in the military or naval forces of the English colonies of America, prior to 1776, or of the state or of the United States shall be suitably kept and cared for.
The caretaker, designated by § 32-31, shall file with the City Clerk a list arranged alphabetically of the names and locations of the graves of servicemen within the provisions of § 486 of the Connecticut General Statutes[1] and shall quarterly add thereto the names and locations of graves opened.

The cost of such care and maintenance as provided in § 32-31 shall be paid as provided in § 27-123 of the Connecticut General Statutes, provided that no expense shall be incurred against the City except upon authorization of the Mayor.
The caretaker shall be paid a salary as set out in § 32-38, payable quarterly.
