Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:81-13,
there is hereby created in the City of Clifton an Historical Commission,
the members of which shall serve the Municipal Council without compensation
in an advisory capacity in matters touching on or concerning the history
of the City of Clifton.

A. The
Historical Commission shall consist of 17 members to be appointed
by the Municipal Council. The term of each appointed member shall
be for four years.
B. In
the event that a vacancy occurs, the same shall be filled by the Municipal
Council for the unexpired balance of the term.
The Municipal Council may also, at any time
and from time to time, appoint such associate member or members to
the Commission as may be deemed appropriate, each of whom shall serve
for a term commencing on the date of his appointment and ending on
the 31st day of the third December next succeeding the date of his
appointment.
The Commission shall organize as soon as may
be following appointment of its members, and annually thereafter,
by election of a Chairman from among its members. Said Commission
may hold regular and special meetings and, subject to the provisions
of this chapter, may make and amend rules and regulations concerning
the conduct thereof.
