The amount of annual compensation to be paid to each
member of the Municipal Council, except the member elected as Mayor,
shall be $4,000, payable in equal semimonthly installments.
The amount of the annual compensation to be paid to
the member of the Municipal Council elected as Mayor shall be $4,500,
payable in equal semimonthly installments.
Hospitalization and medical coverage. The hospitalization and insurance provided by the City of Clifton for current members of the Municipal Council and their spouses be and the same is hereby continued during the period that each such member serves or is serving as a member of the Municipal Council. Members of the Municipal Council shall have the choice of the same health, dental and prescription coverages that are offered to the confidential officials and employees at the same deductibles and co-pays that confidential officials and employees are subject to pursuant to § 99-37A and B of the Code of the City of Clifton.
Dental coverage. The dental coverage for the current members of the Municipal Council and their spouses shall be the same as the group dental plan provided to confidential employees pursuant to § 99-37C of the Code of the City of Clifton.
Temporary disability insurance. The temporary disability insurance for the current members of the Municipal Council shall be the same as the temporary disability plan provided to confidential employees pursuant to § 99-37F of the Code of the City of Clifton.
Said insurance coverage shall be continued at the
option of those members of the Municipal Council who, after the completion
and termination of two terms or eight years of municipal service;
provided, however, that the insurance premiums, costs and expenses
thereof shall be borne and paid by each such qualified former member
of the Municipal Council, exercise such option within 30 days after
the termination of his service to the City of Clifton by notifying,
in writing, the City Treasurer of his exercise of said option and
by the payment of the required premiums and expenses for said insurance
coverage in accordance with the practice and procedure heretofore
employed by or as may hereafter be prescribed by the City Treasurer.
All permanent employees and elected public officials who receive
compensation from the City of Clifton are mandated to have direct
deposit of their compensation as of July 1, 2017, in accordance with
Chapter 28, P.L. 2013, as defined under N.J.S.A. 52:14-15f(b) (including
paperless online pay stubs and W-2s).
Municipal employees may request, in writing, an exemption from the
direct deposit mandate to the City of Clifton's Personnel Director.
Such requests will be presented to the City Council within 30 days.
The City Council may grant such an exemption by resolution and only
for good cause.
