The Municipal Court of the Borough, heretofore established as of January
1, 1949 in accordance with law, is hereby continued.
The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of the
Borough of Hillsdale."
The Municipal Court shall have an official seal which shall bear the
impress of the name of the Court.
The Municipal Court of the Borough shall have a municipal judge, who
shall be known as the "Municipal Judge." He or she shall be appointed by the
Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council and shall have the qualifications
required by law. The Municipal Judge shall serve for a term of three years
from the date of his or her appointment and until his or her successor is
appointed and qualified.
Each Municipal Judge, or attorney temporarily designated in writing
as Municipal Judge, shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her office,
take, subscribe and file the oath of office required by law and rules of court.
The Administrator and assistants shall:
A. Attend the sessions of the Court and the examinations,
trials and proceedings had therein.
B. Perform such other duties and services appertaining to
the Court and the business thereof as the Municipal Judge, the Rules of the
Supreme Court of New Jersey and the laws of this state may require.
The Municipal Judge and the Administrator of the Municipal Court, before
entering upon the duties of their respective offices, shall enter into a bond
as required by law.
