The office of Prosecutor of the Municipal Court of the Borough of Wanaque is hereby established. Said Prosecutor shall be a duly licensed attorney at law of the State of New Jersey, and he shall perform the duty of prosecuting any cases to which he may be assigned by the Judge of the Municipal Court of the Borough of Wanaque in such cases over which said Court shall have jurisdiction, including preliminary hearings and appeals from any judgment of said Court if required by law or by the rules of the Superior Court of New Jersey. He shall hold office during the pleasure of the Council. Unless sooner removed, however, he shall hold office for the one year of his appointment and until his successor shall have qualified.
The Mayor shall nominate and, with the advice and consent of the Council, appoint such Prosecutor, including the filling of any vacancy in said office, which shall be for the unexpired term only.
The said Prosecutor shall receive such compensation for his services as shall be fixed and determined by the Salary Ordinance adopted during the year of his appointment.[1]
