(a) There shall be a Department of Public Works managed
and supervised by the Public Works Commission. The day to day operation
of the department shall be vested in a superintendent or director
who shall report to and be directed and supervised by the commission.
The Public Works Commission shall by regulation prescribe the duties
of the Department of Public Works and the superintendent or director
with respect to the construction and maintenance of Town buildings
and structures, highways and sidewalks, sewers and drains, care of
trees and grounds, the collection and disposal of garbage and rubbish,
and the maintenance of apparatus and equipment used by the Department.
(b) The Department of Public Works may undertake such
maintenance and care of school buildings and grounds as requested
by the Board of Education, approved by the Public Works Commission,
and charged to Board of Education appropriations.
(c) The Department of Public Works may undertake maintenance
and care of beaches and parks if the Public Works Commission so directs
on request of the Parks and Recreation Commission.
The Board of Selectmen may, subject to necessary
appropriations, establish and maintain other departments and agencies
for the administration of town functions.
The Board of Selectmen shall appoint town counsel
to furnish such legal services to the town and its agencies as the
Board may authorize.

The Board of Selectmen shall appoint a Health
Director for a term of four years, with the powers and duties of Health
Directors prescribed by the Connecticut General Statutes.

(a) The Board of Selectmen shall appoint such other officers
as are required by the Connecticut General Statutes.
(b) The Board of Selectmen may, subject to necessary appropriations,
appoint such other officers as are authorized by the Connecticut General
Statutes or by ordinance.
