The Board of Trustees recognizes that the regulation of swimming on, from and to public property within the Village is a matter of public importance, primarily as it concerns the health, safety and welfare of the public.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PUBLIC PROPERTY
Any property owned by the Village of Saranac Lake bordering on any lake, river, stream, pond or other body of water.
It shall be unlawful for any person to swim, bathe or wade to, from or upon any public property, except as provided in § 248-4 of this chapter.
Swimming, bathing and wading shall be permitted at the municipal beach on Lake Colby only during the hours established by resolution of the Village Board for such activities.
Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $50 for each such violation.
