This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Sewer Code of the Village of Hewlett Bay Park."
All connections with sanitary sewers in the Village of Hewlett Bay Park shall conform to the requirements of this chapter and any other village ordinances and regulations applicable thereto.

All work shall be performed by or under the immediate supervision of a plumber licensed or approved by the Town of Hempstead to engage in such business.[1]

Excavations or street openings necessary for sewer connections or installing house sewers and water service pipes shall be made in accordance with the ordinance and regulations of the Village of Hewlett Bay Park.[2] A fee established by the Board of Trustees for each street opening shall be paid to the Clerk of the village.[3] In lieu of a cash deposit, there may be furnished the undertaking of a recognized surety company in a form approved by the Village Counsel.

All work shall be subject to the inspection and approval of the Building Inspector. No work shall be covered until it has been inspected and approved by him.
A. 
The Board of Trustees may from time to time require the owners or occupants of any or all property fronting or abutting on any street or portion thereof to make and lay connection pipes to and from the sewer mains in said street within such time and in such manner as the Board may prescribe; and whenever any such owner or occupant shall have defaulted in making said connections within the time specified, the Board may make, extend and complete the same, and the actual expenses thereof, including all labor done and materials used, shall be assessed upon each respective parcel of property and shall be collected in the same manner as assessments for local improvements in accordance with the Village Law.
B. 
After the street sewers are in operation, no owner or occupant of any property in the village may build or erect or cause to be built or erected any cesspool or septic tank or repair or cause to be repaired any existing septic tank when the same is for the purpose of carrying off sewage.
A violation of this chapter will be deemed a sufficient reason for the Building Inspector to suspend a certificate of competency. Any suspension of a certificate of competency shall be reported at the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees, who shall have power to revoke such certificate of competency.
A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation or their agents to effect any installation or alteration of a sewer connection unless an application for such installation or alteration is filed with the Clerk of this village, together with a filing fee established by the Board of Trustees, and a permit issued by the Board of Trustees on such application.[1]

B. 
All applications shall be filed on forms supplied by the Clerk of the Village of Hewlett Bay Park.
No such sewer installation or alteration shall be put into use or operation until a certificate of compliance shall have been issued by the Building Inspector, upon written application therefor, certifying that such installation or alteration conforms to the provisions of this chapter.
