The Borough Council of the Borough of Port Allegany hereby signifies its intention and desire to organize a Borough Planning Commission under the provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Act 247 of July 31, 1968, as amended and supplemented.[1]

A. 
The Planning Commission shall consist of five members, all of whom shall be citizens of the Borough of Port Allegany.

B. 
The term of office of the members shall be four years or until a successor is appointed, except that the terms of the members first appointed shall be so fixed that two members shall be appointed for four years, two members shall be appointed for three years, two members shall be appointed for two years and one member shall be appointed for one year.
C. 
In the event of vacancies, the governing body shall appoint a member to fill the unexpired term. Members whose terms have expired shall hold office until their successors have been appointed.[1]

The Planning Commission shall prepare and adopt a plan for the development of the Borough of Port Allegany, which plan of development shall be based on studies of the physical, social, economical and governmental conditions and trends and shall be designed to promote with the greatest efficiency and economy the coordinated development of the Borough of Port Allegany and the general welfare and prosperity of its residents.
