[HISTORY: Adopted by the Special Town Meeting of the Town of Lee 5-26-1971 by Art. 10 as Sec. 2-6 of the 1971 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby established a Council on Aging consisting of from seven to 11 citizens of this Town appointed by the Board of Selectmen for terms not to exceed four years for any member. Said terms shall be staggered so that not more than three appointments shall be made in any calendar year. Members can be reappointed for concurrent terms.
The duties of said Council on Aging shall be to:
A. 
Identify the total needs of the community's elderly population.
B. 
Educate the community and enlist the support and participation of all citizens concerning these needs.
C. 
Design, promote or implement services to fill these needs or coordinate present existing services in the community.
D. 
Promote and support any other programs which are designated to assist elderly programs in the community.
Said Council on Aging shall cooperate with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Commission on Aging[1] and shall be cognizant of all state and federal legislation concerning funding, information exchange and program planning which exists for better community programming for the elderly.

Said Council on Aging shall give an annual report to the Board of Selectmen with a copy of that report directed to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Commission on Aging.
