Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 26:3-19 there is hereby created the office of Health Officer, who shall be appointed by the Board of Health and who shall serve for a term of two years from the date of appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified.
The Health Officer shall receive such compensation as is determined by the Board of Health,[1] which compensation shall be in lieu of all fees, costs and other allowances for services as Health Officer, and shall perform such functions and duties as shall be prescribed by law and assigned from time to time by the Board of Health.
