[Adopted 7-17-2004 (Ch.
100, Art. V, of the 2016 Code)]
The Village of Bloomfield owns trees in the rights-of-way throughout
the Village. The Village has adopted a policy to maintain such trees
to ensure the safety and aesthetics of the community.
A. Trees are checked annually in the fall of the year.
(1) The Village of Bloomfield will use a certified arborist to inspect
the trees along with the Superintendent of Public Works.
(2) Any landowner can contact the Village Department of Public Works
in order to have a tree inspected that resides in the Village right-of-way
by a certified arborist and Superintendent.
B. Any tree deemed a hazard to the safety of the public will be trimmed
or removed.
(1) Any trees and/or brush that are in the Village of Bloomfield right-of-way/easement
that are trimmed or cut down shall be left at the request of the landowner.
(2) If no request has been made, pieces of wood that are readily handled
and are of appropriate size to use for firewood are left for the landowner
unless said landowner declines the wood; or, if after one week has
gone by, the wood has not been removed, then the wood is removed by
the Village DPW.
(3) During this time period, within one week of the tree being cut down
or trimmed, scavengers looking for wood are referred to the landowner
in order to gain their permission to obtain the wood.
(4) After the one-week period, the wood is removed by the Village DPW
and transported to the DPW located at 5R Elm Street and made available
to the general public.
