It shall be the duty and power of the City Physician to prescribe medicine
and hospital care for all indigent persons in the City who may require such
professional aid and who may be sent to him by the Welfare Director.
Whenever the existence of smallpox, or any contagious or infectious
disease of a character dangerous to the public health, shall come to the knowledge
of the City Physician, it shall be his duty, immediately upon request by the
Health Officer, to inquire into the nature, extent and locality of the same
and report the result of such inquiry to the Health Officer with such recommendations
respecting the same as he may deem necessary and proper.
It shall be the duty of the City Physician to attend all sick or injured
persons who may be detained at the police station.
It shall be the duty of the City Physician to carefully examine into
the physical fitness of any person who may be an applicant for an appointment
to the police force and who may be recommended for a physical examination
by the City Manager.
