A.
A Fire Commission for the Township of Grosse Ile is
established. The Commission shall consist of five residents of the
Township to be appointed by the Township Board, one of which shall
be a member of the Township Board. Terms of office of Fire Commissioners
shall be for six years ending on April 3 in the year of expiration,
except for the Township Board member of the Township Board, provided,
however, that nothing herein shall prohibit the Township Board from
removing and/or replacing the Township Board member from time to time
during his or her tenure of office on the Township Board.
B.
No member of the Fire Commission shall be a member
of the Fire Department of the Township.
Members of the Commission shall serve without
compensation but shall be entitled to actual and necessary expenses
approved by the Township Board incurred in the performance of official
duties. Vacancies in the Commission shall be filled by the Township
Board for the unexpired term of the Commissioner creating the vacancy.
