CHARTER REVISION
Effective with the general election held in November 2013, the
Town changed to a Town Council/Town Manager form of government. According
to Charter § 11.04, any references in Town ordinances to
the "First Selectman" or to the "Board of Selectmen" shall now be
deemed to refer to the "Town Manager" or the "Town Council," as appropriate.

This chapter is hereby adopted pursuant to the
authority contained in Section 7-340a of the Connecticut General Statutes.
A. The Town Council shall appoint three alternate members
to the Board of Finance subject to the minority representation provisions
of Section 9-167a of the Connecticut General Statutes.

B. Alternate members shall be electors and taxpayers
of the Town of Cromwell.
A. Alternate members of the Board of Finance appointed
hereunder shall serve in the event of absence or disqualification
of a regular member of the Board of Finance. When seated and serving
as provided below, such alternate members shall have all the powers
and duties set forth in the Connecticut General Statutes and the Town
of Cromwell Charter.
B. In the event that a regular member of the Board of
Finance is absent or is disqualified, such absent or disqualified
member shall designate an alternate appointed hereunder to act. In
the event that an absent or disqualified regular member shall fail
or refuse to designate an alternate to act, the majority of the regular
members of the Board of Finance not absent and not disqualified may
designate an alternate appointed hereunder, subject to the provisions
of Section 9-167a of the Connecticut General Statutes, to act for
such absent or disqualified regular member.
A. The initial terms of alternate members appointed hereunder
shall be from the date of their appointment to the next election at
which members of the Board of Finance are elected.
B. Following said initial term, alternate members shall
be appointed for terms of two years.
