Pursuant to the authority of Section 7-136 of the Connecticut General
Statutes, there is hereby created for the Town of Guilford an Economic Development
Commission.

A. Said Economic Development Commission shall consist of
seven members, who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for terms
of four years which shall be so fixed that the terms of approximately 1/5
of the members of such Commission shall expire each year. Said terms of regular
members shall run from the first day of December in each year.
B. In addition, there shall be four alternate members, who
shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for terms which shall not exceed
four years and which shall be so fixed that the terms of approximately 1/4
of the alternate members of such Commission shall expire each year. One member
of the original panel of alternates shall be appointed for a term of one year,
one member for a term of two years, one member for a term of three years and
one member for a term of four years. Alternate members' terms shall run from
the first day of May of each year.
C. Any vacancy in the membership of the Commission shall
be filled for the unexpired portion of the term by the Board of Selectmen.
Each member of said Economic Development Commission shall be an elector
of the Town of Guilford and shall serve without compensation for his or her
services but shall be reimbursed for any necessary expenses incurred in the
performance of his or her official duties.
The Commission may appoint a clerk and any other employee necessary
for the discharge of its duties.
Said Commission shall be authorized to conduct researches into business
and industrial conditions in the town and to coordinate the activities of
unofficial bodies organized for such purposes and to advertise and prepare,
print and distribute books, maps, charts and pamphlets which, in its judgment,
will further its official purposes.
The annual budget of such Commission shall not exceed 1/20 of 1% of
the last complete grand list.

The provisions of Sections 7-136 and 7-137a of the Connecticut General
Statutes are hereby adopted, and the Commission shall have all of the powers
and duties contained therein.
