A. 
No more than 20 plenary retail consumption liquor licenses shall be permitted or allowed to exist at any time in the Township of Bridgewater, exclusive of the Town of Raritan, except that all liquor licenses of this class which are in existence at the time this article is finally passed shall remain in full force and effect and may be renewed; provided, however, that should any such license not be properly renewed or for any other reason become legally ineffective, it shall not be replaced with another license until the remaining licenses shall have been reduced to 19, the maximum licenses permitted being 20; and provided further that the provisions hereof shall not operate or be construed to limit or affect in any way whatsoever the replacement, renewal, continuation or transfer of any such license or licenses heretofore or presently existing and located upon premises situated in an adjoining municipality which, by annexation of land of such adjoining municipality to this Township, shall hereafter be situated in this Township.

B. 
The maximum number of plenary retail consumption licenses that shall be permitted in the Township of Bridgewater, in the County of Somerset, shall not prevent the issuance of a new plenary retail consumption license to a person who operates a hotel or motel containing at least 50 sleeping rooms, within the intent and meaning of Section 8 of Chapter 94 of the Laws of 1947 (N.J.S.A. 33:1-12.20), if and only if such hotel or motel shall be equipped with a public restaurant having a minimum table-seating capacity of 75 persons located in such hotel or motel or located in a separate or detached building which must be adjacent to such hotel or motel and which must be situated on the same lot, parcel or tract of lands and premises containing said hotel or motel; provided, however, that there shall be no renewal or transfer of such license except for or to a hotel or motel containing at least 50 sleeping rooms and which shall be equipped with a public restaurant as aforesaid.[1]

No more than six plenary retail distribution liquor licenses shall be permitted or allowed to exist at any time in the Township of Bridgewater.

No more than six club liquor licenses shall be permitted or allowed to exist at any time in the Township of Bridgewater.
No limited retail distribution licenses shall be issued in the Township of Bridgewater.
All liquor licenses of whatever class which have been lawfully issued in the Township of Bridgewater, exclusive of the Town of Raritan, prior to the passage of this article, shall remain in full force and effect and may be renewed; provided, however, that any such existing license which shall not be renewed immediately following its expiration date or which shall legally fail to remain in full force and effect shall not thereafter be renewed or replaced except within the confines of the limits expressed in § 52-8 of this article.
