A. Any person who shall own, keep or harbor a dog of
licensing age (seven months) shall, no later than January 31 of the
licensing year or after acquisition thereof as provided in this chapter
and in the month of January annually thereafter, apply for and procure
from the Clerk of the Borough or other official designated by the
Council thereof to license dogs in the Borough a license and official
metal registration tag for each such dog so owned, kept or harbored
and shall place upon each such a dog a collar or harness with the
registration tag securely fastened thereto. The owner of a newly acquired
dog shall make application for a license and registration tag within
10 after such acquisition or age attainment.
B. Registration for potentially dangerous dogs: refer
to State of New Jersey Statutes Annotated, Title 4, Agricultural and
Domestic Animals, Section 4:19-37.

A. Persons applying for the license and registration
tag shall pay the annual fee for such license of $21 for nonspayed
or nonneutered. The fee for all persons who present proof that their
dog has been neutered or spayed is $18. For each renewal, the fee
for the license shall be same. There will be a fee of $4 for replacement
of a lost tag or license. Such licenses and renewals thereof shall
expire on January 1 of each year.

B. Persons who fail to obtain a license as required by
January 31 of the licensing year shall be subject to a nonrefundable
delinquent fee of $15 per animal and subject to prosecution in the
Municipal Court of the Borough. Late fees will be effective as of
February 1 of the licensing year, and summonses will become effective
March 1 of the licensing year.
C. All contested summons fees are at the discretion of
the Municipal Judge. The fee(s) applies to owners who did not comply
by January 31 of the licensing year.
No person, except an officer in the performance
of his duties, shall remove a registration tag from the collar of
any dog without the consent of the owner, nor shall any person attach
a registration tag to a dog for which it was not issued.
