Any person who violates any provision of a Township
of Maplewood ordinance, as codified, may, upon conviction thereof,
be punished by a fine not exceeding $2,000, imprisonment in the county/municipal
jail for a term not exceeding 90 days or a period of community service
not exceeding 90 days, or any combination thereof, as determined by
the Municipal Court Judge.
Whenever any provision of the New Jersey Revised Statutes
limits the authority of the Township to punish the violation of any
particular provision of this Code or other Township ordinance, rule,
regulation or order promulgated pursuant thereto to a fine of less
amount than that provided in this section or imprisonment for a shorter
term than that provided in this section, then the violation of such
particular provision of this Code or other Township ordinance, rule,
regulation or order shall be punished by the imposition of not more
than the maximum fine or imprisonment so authorized, or by both such
fine and imprisonment.
Each day on which a violation of an ordinance exists
shall be considered a separate and distinct violation and shall be
subject to imposition of a separate penalty for each day of the violation,
as the Municipal Court Judge may determine.
Whenever any fine is imposed upon any corporation,
such fine and any costs and charges incident thereto may be collected
in an action of debt or in such other manner as may be provided by
law.
