There is hereby created the full-time position of Fire Marshal who shall
be appointed by the Board of Aldermen.
At a minimum, the Fire Marshal shall possess the necessary certification
as required by the State Fire Marshal and the Codes and Standards Committee.
Moreover, the Fire Marshal shall attend such training programs or other approved
programs of training as are necessary to meet the minimum requirements established
by the State Fire Marshal and the Codes and Standards Committee, and present
proof of successful completion thereof to the State Fire Marshal.
The Fire Marshal, and the Deputy Fire Marshals, Fires Inspectors and
Fire Safety Code Inspectors who shall act under the direction and supervision
of the Fire Marshal, shall have all the powers, duties and responsibilities
and shall be subject to all of the qualifications as prescribed for such persons
by the laws of the State of Connecticut, including but not limited to § 29-298
of the Connecticut General Statutes and any amendments thereto.
