Qualifications to be eligible for the position of police dispatcher shall be as follows:
A. 
Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
B. 
Must not have any criminal convictions involving moral turpitude.
C. 
Must successfully undergo a psychological examination.
D. 
Must be able to read and write the English language fluently.
E. 
Must be able to read computer screens and operate a keyboard.
F. 
Must be able to speak clearly and communicate via two-way radios.
G. 
Must not be less than 18 years of age.
The police dispatcher will be responsible to answer all incoming calls within the Police Department and direct them to their proper area for resolution; shall dispatch police officers to the scene of calls for service; shall maintain the records system for the Police Department; shall coordinate emergency response to emergency scenes and shall be responsible for carrying out any other duties so designated by the Chief of Police or his designee.
The regular work week for police dispatchers will be a forty-hour week with a one-half-hour paid lunch.
Police dispatchers will receive the following paid holidays:
New Year's Day
Presidents' Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Columbus Day
General Election Day
Veterans' Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve afternoon
Christmas Day
Police dispatchers will be entitled to overtime at the rate of 1 1/2 times their hourly rate if they work more than 40 hours in a work week.
Police dispatchers will be afforded vacation time in conformity with the terms contained in that of the Borough of Kinnelon Personnel Policy in § 32-2, Vacations.[1]

Police dispatchers will be afforded sick leave in conformity with the terms contained in that of the Borough of Kinnelon Personnel Policy in § 32-2, Sick leave.[1]

Police dispatchers will be afforded other absence in conformity with the terms contained in that of the Borough of Kinnelon Personnel Policy in § 32-2, Other absence.[1]

Police dispatchers will be required to wear a uniform specified in the Kinnelon Borough Police S.O.P., Chapter 7, Uniforms, Appearance and Equipment. Said uniforms will be supplied by the Borough upon hiring and an amount to be set in the annual budget for replacement and repairs to said uniforms, to be paid as an annual clothing allowance.
Review and evaluation of police dispatchers will be done as in conformity with the terms contained in that of the Borough of Kinnelon Personnel Policy in § 32-2, Review, Part B.[1]
