A. 
There is hereby established the position of Local Historian.
B. 
The Local Historian shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council.
C. 
The Local Historian shall serve without compensation; provided, however, that the Mayor and Council may annually appropriate such funds as may be necessary to reimburse the Local Historian for expenses incurred in the performance of the duties and responsibilities set forth herein.
There is hereby created a Maywood Historical Advisory Committee.
A. 
The Maywood Historical Advisory Committee shall consist of the Local Historian, together with such number of other residents of the Borough of Maywood as may be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council.
B. 
With the exception of the Local Historian, the terms of the appointed members shall be for one year and shall expire on December 31 of the year during which the appointment shall have been made.
C. 
Vacancies shall be filled by the Mayor and Council for the balance of the unexpired term.
D. 
The Local Historian shall serve as Chairperson of the Maywood Historical Advisory Committee.
E. 
The Maywood Historical Advisory Committee shall meet regularly at the call of its Chairperson, may elect from among its members such other officers as may be appropriate and may establish such rules of procedure to govern its meetings as it may deem appropriate.
The Maywood Historical Advisory Committee, under the direction of the Local Historian, shall assist in the preservation, celebration and memorialization of the history of the Borough of Maywood and shall have the following powers and responsibilities:
A. 
The carrying out of a historical program, including but not restricted to collecting, preserving and making available materials relating to the history of the Borough of Maywood.
B. 
The making of an annual report to the Mayor and Council stating all the work performed and accomplished during the preceding year.
C. 
Subject to the direction of the Mayor and Council, the researching, writing and publishing of a history of the borough.
D. 
Advising the Mayor and Council concerning the acquisition, administration, use and disposition of any landmark or historical site.
E. 
Assisting in projects of commemoration, including the erection of monuments, historical markers and guide signs.
F. 
The planning and organizing of centennial celebrations, including a parade and/or other special events.
G. 
The carrying out of such other advisory, educational and informational functions as will promote an appreciation of the history of the Borough of Maywood as may be directed by the Mayor and Council.
Each member of the Maywood Historical Advisory Committee shall serve without compensation, and neither the Local Historian, the Committee nor any Committee member shall incur any expense without the prior approval of the Mayor and Council.
The Mayor and Council may, with or without cause, remove any member of the Maywood Historical Advisory Committee.
