This chapter will be known as the "Borough of
Wanaque Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance."
Excessive quantities of soil are eroding from
areas undergoing development. Single- and multiple-family housing,
industrial and commercial developments and highway and utility construction
sites all produce off-site sediment damages. The purpose of this chapter
is to control soil erosion and the resulting sedimentation from occurring
on developing areas by requiring proper provisions for water disposal
and the protection of soil surfaces during and after construction
in order to promote the safety, public health, convenience and general
welfare of the community.
