No person shall engage in hunting with firearms,
bows or weapons of any description during either the open or closed
seasons within the territorial limits of the Borough or shall fire
or discharge or cause to be fired or discharged any pistol, shotgun,
rifle or firearm of any description within the territorial limits
of the Borough, except in the lawful defense of person or property,
or shall discharge or cause to be discharged any arrow from a bow
while engaged in hunting in the Borough.
The use of any shotgun, rifle, pistol or other
firearm by any police officer, constable or other duly constituted
officer under the laws of the State of New Jersey or of the United
States of America in the performance of his/her official duty shall
not be considered a violation of this chapter.

The use of any such firearm or weapon at a rifle
or target range, approved in writing by the Chief of Police or other
officer in charge of the Police Department, and the carrying of such
firearm or weapon, unloaded, to and from the rifle or target range
shall not be considered a violation of this chapter. All such permits
issued by the Chief of Police or other officer in charge of the Police
Department shall specify the length of time during which they shall
be valid and the person to whom they are issued and shall only be
valid during such period of time and when used by such person. All
such permits shall further state the age of the person to whom issued
and shall not be valid in the hands of any minor, unless the minor
is accompanied, during the period of use of the permit, by a parent
or other responsible adult also in possession of a valid permit.

Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, General Penalty. Each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense.
