The effective date of this charter as amended shall be 30 days from its approval at election, subject to the transition language appearing in Section
9-1 of this charter.
All elective and appointive officers before they enter on their duties shall take the oath or affirmation prescribed by Article
XI, Section 1 of the Constitution of the State of Connecticut, as follows:
"You do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case
may be) that you will support the Constitution of the United States
and the Constitution of the State of Connecticut, so long as you continue
a citizen thereof; and that you will faithfully discharge, according
to law, the duties of the office of .......... to the best of your
abilities. So help you God."

No other oath or affirmation shall be required.

This charter may be amended in the manner prescribed
by the Connecticut General Statutes.
If any section of this charter shall be held
invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not
affect the remainder of this charter nor the context in which such
section so held invalid may appear, except to the extent that an entire
section or part of section may be inseparably connected in meaning
and effect with the section or part of section to which such holding
shall directly apply.
