[Amended referendum 11-8-2005, effective 12-8-2005; referendum 11-4-2008, effective 12-4-2008]
Charter amendments have been prepared in anticipation of submission for approval of the Guilford electors at an election in calendar year 2008. If approved, the amendment adding a new Section 4-11, which creates a Public Works Commission and the amendment to Section 5-1, regarding the Public Works Department shall be effective thirty days from approval. The amendments to Sections 2-1, 2-6(b) and 6-3, which eliminate the office of Treasurer as an elective position and provide for all powers and duties of that position to be assumed by the Finance Director (Fiscal Officer), shall be effective at the conclusion of the term of office of the current Treasurer, which is the seventh day following the regular town election of November 2011.
