[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Honeoye Falls 3-26-1979 as L.L. No. 3-1979. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Town Clerk of the Town of Mendon may issue a permit for the conducting of games of chance in the corporate limits of the Village of Honeoye Falls, as authorized by the Constitution of the State of New York and by § 187 of the General Municipal Law. Such permit shall be issued only in accordance with state law and subject to the same conditions or limitations imposed on the conduct of games of chance in the unincorporated area of the town.
This chapter shall remain in effect until superseded or repealed, as provided in state law, and the Town Clerk shall have the authority granted by this chapter only so long as the Clerk has authority to issue permits in the unincorporated area of the Town of Mendon.
The enforcement officer of this chapter shall be the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County of Monroe.

This chapter shall take effect thirty (30) days after its adoption unless, within thirty (30) days after its adoption, there shall be filed with the Village Clerk a petition signed and authenticated by qualified electors of the Village of Honeoye Falls registered to vote in the last preceding general election in number equal to at least twenty per centum (20%) of the total number of votes cast for the Governor in the last gubernatorial election, which petition protests this chapter and requests that it be submitted to the electors of the village for their approval, in which case this chapter shall take effect when approved by the affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors voting on this chapter.[1]
