No person except the City Electrician or a competent person
authorized by the Board of Aldermen shall make a connection with the
electric light wires of the City, and no connection or attachment
shall be made in any event with such electric light wires until the
wiring and fixtures of the consumer desiring such connection shall
have been inspected and approved by the City Electrician; or some
other competent person authorized by the Board of Aldermen, and such
inspection shall be made before any of the wiring and fixtures of
the consumer is in any way concealed.

No extensions or alterations shall be made in the wiring of
any building, during the existence of any contract with the City for
electricity until the proposed plans for such extension or alteration
shall have been submitted to and approved by the City Electrician.

The City shall not be liable in damages for any damage or injury
to any consumer or any other person by reason of any defect in the
work done or material used in distributing electricity through houses,
buildings or premises. All wire, lamps, fixtures and other equipment
used by any consumer in distributing electricity through buildings,
houses and premises shall be of a standard make and approved by the
National Board of Fire Underwriters. The City shall have the right
to refuse to furnish electricity to consumers using defective or inferior
equipment.

The City shall have the right at any time upon giving a forty-eight
(48) hour written notice to consumers for good and sufficient cause
or for failure to comply with the provisions and requirements of this
Chapter to discontinue furnishing any consumer with electricity, and
the City shall not be liable in damages for discontinuing such service.

All persons residing on streets, avenues, highways and alleys
where light and power poles are erected shall keep all trees and shrubbery
on their premises trimmed away from the wires for a distance of at
least three (3) feet.
