All coaches, officials, umpires, parents, participants, players,
spectators and attendees who participate in or watch athletic programs,
events or other activities of the Recreation Department of the Borough
of Kinnelon, or who are playing or watching any athletic program,
event or activity upon any public property owned, leased or otherwise
controlled by the Borough of Kinnelon, shall be responsible for his
or her own words and actions, and each such person shall conform his
or her behavior to the following Code of Conduct:
Each person shall not encourage a child, or any other person, to
engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player,
participant, official or any other attendee.
Each person shall not engage in any behavior which would endanger
the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant,
official or any other attendee.
Each person shall not encourage a child, or any other person, to
engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or
well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or
any other attendee.
Each person shall not use drugs or alcohol while at a youth sporting
event and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth
sporting event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Each person shall not permit his/her child, or encourage any other
person, to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sporting event and will
not permit a child, or encourage any other person, to attend, coach,
officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence
of drugs or alcohol.
Each person shall treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official
and/or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed,
color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
Each person shall encourage all children to treat any coach,
parent, player, participant, official and/or any other attendee with
respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual
orientation or ability.
Each person shall not engage in bullying, verbal or physical
threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant,
official and/or any other attendee.
Each person shall not encourage any child, or any other person,
to engage in bullying, verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at
any coach, parent, player, participant, official and/or any other
attendee.
Each person shall not encourage any child, or any other person,
to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant,
official and/or any other attendee.
Each person shall refrain from posting, offering or publishing
disparaging, threatening, or similar phrases, including those listed
above, on any social medium, including but not limited to Facebook,
Twitter, Topix, YouTube, Instagram and/or similar media.
No person shall bring to any Kinnelon recreation activity weapons
of any sort, including but not limited to knives, firearms, tasers,
or other items that could be used to cause bodily harm or for intimidation.
Sporting equipment, used by a sport participant at the sporting event
being attended, shall be allowed.
Each person shall agree that if he or she fails to conform his/her
conduct to the foregoing while or after attending, coaching, officiating
or participating in a youth sporting or other Kinnelon recreation
event he or she will be subject to disciplinary action, including
but not limited to the following in any order or combination:
Verbal warning issued by the Recreation Director, the Kinnelon Borough
Council-Recreation Commission liaison, or a member of the Kinnelon
Recreation Commission.
Immediate ejection from any youth sporting event, at which the offense
occurs, issued by the Recreation Director, the Kinnelon Borough Council-Recreation
Committee liaison, a Kinnelon elected official, or law enforcement.
This Code of Conduct may be enforced by the Recreation Director,
Recreation Commission member(s), any Kinnelon elected official, and/or
law enforcement present at the event where the violation takes place.
As for any social media violation, such alleged violation shall be
reported to, and investigated by, the Recreation Director and/or Recreation
Commission.
Any person found to have violated any provision of this Code of Conduct
has to the right to appeal that finding to the Recreation Director
and, in turn, to the Recreation Commission.
