When used in this chapter, the following words
shall have the following meanings:
Any device, object or article designed or utilized for the
purpose of bodily assault or defense.
Any device or weapon from which a dangerous projectile may
be propelled by using explosives, gas or air as a means of propulsion,
except any smooth bore rifle or handgun designed and manufactured
exclusively for propelling BB's not exceeding .177 caliber by
means of spring, gas or air, except for any slingshot or bow and arrow.
The definition of "firearm" shall include but not be limited to a
rifle, shotgun or pistol.

A.
No weapons of any kind including concealed weapons
shall be permitted in any Township-owned or -leased building. This
prohibition includes any individuals who are licensed to carry a concealed
pistol by the State of Michigan. This prohibition shall not apply
to a police officer or other law enforcement officer authorized by
law to carry a firearm.
B.
Except as otherwise permitted by law, a person shall
not transport or possess in or upon a motor vehicle, or any self-propelled
vehicle, or any watercraft or vessel, a firearm, other than a pistol,
unless the firearm is unloaded and is one or more of the following:
It shall be unlawful for any person, except
a police officer in the performance of his or her duty, to discharge
any firearm or dangerous weapon within the Township except in the
lawful defense of person or property, or except at a duly established
range for that purpose, the operation of which has been approved by
the Township, or except at such other places and under such other
circumstances otherwise approved by the Township's Police Department.
The exceptions herein contained shall not include the discharge of
firearms or dangerous weapons for the purpose of hunting within the
Township, such act being hereby prohibited by this section.
It shall be unlawful for any person, except
a police or peace officer, to transport in any motor vehicle any loaded
or unloaded firearm or dangerous weapon within the Township except
in accordance with and in the manner provided by law. The exceptions
herein contained or contained within the general statutes of the State
of Michigan shall not permit or include the transporting of firearms
or dangerous weapons for the purpose of hunting within the Township,
such act being hereby prohibited by this section.
A.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any
air or BB gun, not defined in this chapter as a firearm, or to discharge
any slingshot or bow and arrow within the Township except on a target
range; provided, however, that this section shall not apply whenever
such air or BB gun, or slingshot or bow and arrow is discharged on
private property with the consent of the owner or occupant thereof
and the discharge of such air or BB gun, slingshot or bow and arrow
is confined to such private property.
B.
It shall be unlawful for any owner or occupant of
premises within the Township to permit the use of any air or BB gun,
slingshot or bow and arrow upon his property by any other person,
unless such use is personally supervised by a person 17 years of age
or older.
C.
It shall be unlawful for any person to transport or
carry any air or BB gun, slingshot or bow and arrow on any public
roadway or in any public place or place open to the public within
the Township unless such air or BB gun, slingshot, or bow and arrow
is enclosed in a case or in a box.
D.
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry, discharge,
or transport any air or BB gun, slingshot, or bow and arrow in the
Township for the purpose of hunting on any public or private property
within the Township.
