All of the following use groups: assembly, business, educational,
factory, high-hazard, institutional, mercantile, miscellaneous, storage,
and the following residential use occupancies: apartments, convents,
dormitories, hotels, monasteries, and motels, with common areas and
three or more units, shall be required to obtain an annual fire prevention
permit from the Fire Marshal within the time period and according
to the schedule devised by the Fire Marshal for each of the occupancies
hereinafter set forth.
Fire prevention permits shall be issued only after the Fire
Marshal or his/her designee (hereinafter referred to as “Inspector”)
has inspected the premises and found the premises to be free from
any violations of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, International
Fire Code, or any other state or local regulations concerning fire
safety.
Fire prevention permits shall be revoked by the Fire Marshal
when he determines that a violation of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction
Code or International Fire Code exists on the premises which is the
subject of the permit. The holder of the fire prevention permit shall
return said permit to the Fire Marshal until such time as all of the
violations have been rectified.
The Fire Marshal shall devise a schedule for implementing the
provisions of this article among the various uses and occupancies
affected and shall devise and implement all plans and systems necessary
to administer this program.
The fees for inspection and issuance of fire prevention permits
shall be set from time to time by resolution or ordinance of the Township
Council and shall be paid at the time the application is submitted.
The Fire Marshal is hereby authorized and directed to collect
the fees imposed and to remit the same to the general funds account
of the Township.
