[Amended 10-20-1992 by Ord. No. 92-17]
Council hereby authorizes and empowers certain
full-time employees of the Township's Office of Licenses, Zoning and
Inspections, as listed in Exhibit A hereof and as may be added in the future by resolution of the
Council, to enforce the provisions of Bristol Township Ordinance No.
8-86 and any future amendments to that ordinance, during times
of measurable snowfall which lies upon the roads, streets and highways
of the Township, under and subject to the control of the Chief of
Police or his designee.
Such individuals shall be authorized and empowered,
within the terms of Ordinance No. 8-86, to issue warnings, noncriminal
citations for violations and to cause the towing and removal of offending
vehicles, under the superintendence and control of the Chief of Police
or his designee.
This chapter shall constitute prima facie evidence
of the authority of the individuals named in Exhibit A to issue citations and cause the towing and removal of
vehicles in any court proceedings arising from such actions.
The individuals named shall not be required
to wear a particular uniform or to display a badge, but shall be required
to carry and display, upon request, identification which clearly indicates
the name and that the individual is an employee of Bristol Township.
The Council specifically prohibits the named
individuals from performing, or representing themselves as authorized
to perform, any police functions or powers other than as are set forth
in this chapter and Ordinance No. 8-86, or to act at any time other than during periods of snowfall.
Employees acting pursuant to the terms of this
chapter shall receive no additional compensation or remuneration for
work performed during normal working hours. Otherwise, compensation
shall be in accordance with the employment contract then in effect.
The Chief of Police and Code Enforcement Officer
are hereby authorized and directed to take such actions as may be
necessary to carry out the intent of this chapter.
