Membership in the Company shall be divided into two classes,
viz., active and honorary.
[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General
Provisions, Art. I)]
Active membership shall be confined to persons of the age of
at least 18 years who are citizens of the United States, of good moral
character and sound of body, and who reside within the corporate Village
limits of Boonville, New York, and who shall meet the additional requirements
applicable to the organization. Active members shall be required to
perform the full duties of volunteer firemen, including service at
fires and attendance at meetings, inspections, drills, schools of
instruction and parades. If such member moves out of the corporate
Village to within the limits of the Town of Boonville, he must have
his continued membership and status approved by a majority vote of
the Boonville Fire Company, Inc., at the next regular meeting following
such change of residence.
Any member who has served 20 consecutive years as an active
member, or who has reached the age of 50 years, and is in good standing,
may at his request be entitled to an honorary membership of this Company.
Such members shall pay no dues, fines or assessments, and shall be
entitled to all the privileges of active members except voting or
holding office. In volunteering for duty they shall be subject to
the same penalties for disobedience of orders as active members.
