A person operating a bicycle shall not ride other than upon or astride the permanent and regular seat attached thereon, nor carry any other person upon such bicycle other than upon a firmly attached and regular seat thereon.
No bicycle shall be used to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it is designed and equipped.
No person shall operate a bicycle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.
Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right-hand side of roadway as practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
A. 
No person or persons shall ride a bicycle upon the sidewalks of the following streets within the Village of Boonville:
(1) 
On Schuyler Street, between Post and Water Streets.
(2) 
On Main Street, between Post and Ann Streets.
B. 
No person or persons over the age of 10 years shall ride a bicycle upon any sidewalk within the corporate limits of the Village of Boonville, New York, or within the Village Park located in the Village Square.

No person riding upon any bicycle shall attach the same or himself to any vehicle upon a roadway.
No person shall operate a bicycle unless it is equipped with a light or other device capable of giving a signal audible for a distance of at least 100 feet, except that a bicycle shall not be equipped with, nor shall any person use upon a bicycle, any siren or whistle.

Every bicycle when in use during the period from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise shall be equipped with a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible during hours of darkness from a distance of at least 500 feet to the front and with a red or amber light visible to the rear for 300 feet. Effective July 1, 1976, at least one of these lights shall be visible for 200 feet from each side.
In the event of the violation of any of the provisions of ordinances or any of the provisions of law for the operation of bicycles by any person or persons, the officer in charge of the Police Department or any law enforcement officer of the Village of Boonville shall take into his possession and impound the bicycle for the following periods of time:
A. 
For the first violation: 24 hours.
B. 
For the second violation: three days.
C. 
For the third violation: 10 days.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punished, upon conviction, by a fine not exceeding $250 for each violation. In addition, each violation of this chapter shall constitute disorderly conduct, and each person violating the same shall be a disorderly person. Each day that a violation or failure to comply with any provision of this chapter or any regulation promulgated hereunder by the Board of Trustees occurs shall constitute a separate and distinct violation.
