No person, association, organization or corporation shall erect or cause to be erected or maintained upon any public street or highway, or adjacent to any public street or highway in the Village of Boonville, any billboards or advertising signs except in conformance with § 380-27, Signage, of Chapter 380, Zoning.
No person shall place upon, fasten or affix to any telegraph or telephone pole, lamppost, tree or fence any advertisement, placard, poster, letter or device stating, referring to, advertising, or intending to state, refer to or advertise, any meeting, business, exhibition, dance or amusement of any kind, or the sale or manufacture of any article or thing whatsoever; except, however, that on special occasions or in emergencies the Mayor may sanction, by written permit to be filed in the office of the Village Clerk, the use of certain lampposts, telephone posts and trees for such advertisement for a limited period of time.
No person shall place, hang out or suspend, or suffer to be placed, hung out or suspended, or placed over or above any street in front of his building within the Village of Boonville, any board, roof, sign or other fixture which shall extend into or over said street, without first obtaining a written permit from the Mayor of the Village and having filed with the Village Clerk a liability insurance policy indemnifying the Village against any loss or damage which might arise from accident or injury resulting directly or indirectly from said board, roof, sign or other fixture; and all such signs, boards, roofs or other fixtures shall be at least seven feet above the sidewalk. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the erection of awnings constructed of cloth or canvas and properly supported by iron rods, except that every part of any such awning and support shall be at least seven feet above the sidewalk; and nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the ordinary business signs attached to the building occupied by a mercantile establishment in this Village which are at least seven feet above the sidewalk and extend into the traveled portion of the sidewalk a distance of not more than three feet.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punished, upon conviction, by a fine not exceeding $250 or imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both, for each violation. In addition, each violation of this enactment shall constitute disorderly conduct, and each person violating the same shall be a disorderly person. Each day that a violation or failure to comply with any provision of this enactment or any regulation promulgated hereunder by the Board of Trustees occurs shall constitute a separate and distinct violation.
