The Town of Thompson hereby adopts and accepts the provisions of Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-136 and creates a Municipal Economic Development Commission to be known as the "Thompson Economic Development Commission." The Economic Development Commission shall consist of five members and two alternate members to be appointed by the Select Board. The two-year terms of the members shall be staggered every other year.
The members shall have all the power and duties as set forth in the Connecticut General Statutes for municipal economic development commissions, and any vacancy in membership of the Commission shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term by the chief executive authority as provided for in Section 7-136 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended.
The Economic Development Commission shall have two alternate members to be appointed by the Select Board, the first with a term expiring December 31, 2007, and the second with a term expiring December 31, 2008, and their successors shall each be appointed to two-year terms expiring December 31 of the respective odd- or even-numbered year.[1]
